One Idiot - An Amole Gupte Film & an IDFC Foundation Initiative

A movie for teenagers to start saving early

If you buy things that you don’t need, one day you will have to sell things that you do need,” Bhargav Krishna, the protagonist of the movie One Idiot, quotes Warren Buffet, when explaining money management to his teenager neighbours in the society he lives.

Directed by Amol Gupte of Stanley ka Dabba fame, One Idiot is an initiative by the IDFC Foundation to educate the youth of India to be financially independent.

The movie gives the right basic financial messages: start saving early, do systematic investing in mutual funds, buy insurance only when you need it and don’t bundle it with investment, have an asset allocation between equity and debt and so on
